Zodiac Fabrics Company Takes The Name Of Its Parent Company To Become Carriff Canada

In the mid-1970s when, as the “specialty” division of a major Canadian pipe manufacturer, the company introduced the original Sock™ filter to the North American subsurface drainage market. For the next 20 years, they developed the expertise in circular-knitted geotextiles while working in-house for the pipe manufacturer. In the mid-1990s that pipe manufacturer sold the US and Canadian arms of its specialty division to private investors, and two new companies were formed as a result: Carriff Corporation (Carriff) in the United States and Zodiac Fabrics Inc. (Zodiac) in Canada.

Separately, Zodiac and Carriff began selling their circular-knitted drainage filters to various pipe manufacturers in North America, thereby growing the industry and developing a loyal customer base along the way. Meanwhile, both companies began to expand their product offerings to include other circular-knitted geotextiles, such as erosion control and absorbent socks. After a brief period of competition, Zodiac and Carriff were reunited under common ownership in 2004. The consolidated company adopted the name Carriff Engineered Fabrics Corporation (CEFC).
Zodiac and Carriff shared technology, physical space, manufacturing, and management experience to meet the needs of their customers while remaining competitive in the global marketplace which includes customers in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and the Pacific Rim.

In October, Zodiac changed its name to Carriff Canada to complete the integration with its sister company, Carriff Corporation. Working together as Carriff, the company is well positioned to remain leaders in the market for circular-knitted geotextiles, and look forward to serving our customers for years to come.

The new website, www.carriff.com was launched on October 5 to coincide with the name change.
